UPDATE: The Final version of the Moore Park Beach Masterplan ‘Spaces and Places’ was adopted by Council on Tuesday 27 April, 2021, preparing the way to commence the design of stage one. You can read the final report here.

Council has engaged local Consultants InsiteSJC to assist in creating a Masterplan for a Community Hub at the south-eastern end of Moore Park Beach.

The initial area is identified as extending from Palm View Drive in the vicinity of the Claude Dooley Park in the west to Lassig Street in the east, bordered by the beach in the north and Pacific Boulevard, Club Avenue and Moore Park Road in the south.

Council’s objectives for the Moore Park Beach Community Hub aligns with our vision within our Corporate Plan, being to Build Australia’s Best Regional Community. To advance this vision, Council recently developed its Advocacy Priorities for 2020 which include improving community and recreational facilities for Moore Park Beach.

The objectives for the development of the Masterplan are to:

• Improve recreational facilities and amenities in the Moore Pak Beach area with the intent of attracting young families to the community
• Raise the profile of Moore Park Beach as a place to visit for holiday makers and day trip visitors
• Assist in creating a greater sense of pride in the local community
• Creation of innovative places and facilities to encourage local activation
• Improve the efficiency of multiple land uses in an environmentally sensitive area
• Guide future environmental improvements in sensitive natural and riparian areas
• Provide direction of the staged delivery of Council’s capital works program over the next 5-10 years
• Ensure all future development is undertaken in an integrated and sustainable fashion

It is intended that the Masterplan will prioritise developments and include supporting documentation suitable for use in future State or Commonwealth Grant applications.

Project Update #2: 19 April, 2024

The development of the Moore Park Beach precinct is now proceeding well on a number of fronts across the project footprint.

Council has engaged a Delivery Team to ensure works are delivered efficiently, collaboratively, and effectively across a range of Moore Park Beach Stakeholders.

An updated precinct Masterplan has also now been completed to ensure clarity in overall project delivery. The updated masterplan now depicts the staged delivery of various work packages.

Council has also now entered into a building contract with local builder, Hallstone Constructions to deliver the new Community Annex building, located north of the Moore Park Beach Bowls Club.

This project makes provision for three buildings supporting local community groups, predominantly the Men’s Shed, Moore Park Beach Scouts, Moore Park Beach Arts Inc. and the Moore Park Beach Community Association's Thrift Shop, a new Community Hub building, and storage sheds for use by various local community groups.

Building works are scheduled to begin mid 2024.

Concurrently with these works is the development of the wider precinct.

This involves significant landscape works, irrigation of the sports oval, civil works, and an upgrade to the existing sewer reticulation with the construction of a gravity network (no septic tanks!) and a new water treatment plant.

Within the new precinct, Surf Life Saving Queensland (SLSQ) will also be constructing a new clubhouse to service Moore Park Beach.

Upon completion of their new clubhouse, slated for late 2024 or early 2025, the existing old facility will be demolished. Council will be assisting SLSQ by providing them with a sewer connection to their new facility as well as hardstand areas around the building.

Council will ensure, whilst works are under way, that access will be maintained to the existing Holiday Park, the Bowls Club, the Pink House, Community Centre, existing SLSQ clubhouse, and the existing surf carpark. This will be carried out by ongoing consultation with all parties.

The future of Moore Park Beach is exciting and the Masterplan facilities will be a great outcome for local residents and visitors to enjoy in the future.

Project Update #1: 26 November, 2020

Thanks to the hundreds of Moore Park Beach residents who have had an important part to play in the formation of the Moore Park Beach “Spaces and Places” masterplan.

We appreciate your involvement and genuine passion for the development of your community.

The formal consultation period has now finished and Council, along with local consultants, Insite SJC, are reviewing the comments, feedback and suggestions.

The masterplan will then be updated and presented for Council approval by February 2021.

The completed masterplan will then be published on www.ourbundabergregion.com.au.

Council is looking at funding opportunities and hopes to commence work in the 2021/22 financial year.

It will be a staged and prioritised project and as we commence detailed design we will invite relevant stakeholders to be part of community reference groups to contribute to the design process.
