What are the projects about?
Pick of the Crop – A whole-of-school nutrition program to increase opportunities for primary school children to learn about and consume more fruit and vegetables.
My Health for Life – Aims to reduce chronic health conditions by providing a practical program targeting nutrition, exercise, and mental wellbeing throughout the community.
10,000 Steps – Aims to empower, support and motivate Queenslanders to increase awareness and levels of physical activity through the use of step tracking and an interactive program.
Be Active Be Alive – Council's popular fitness program provides free fitness fun to the Bundaberg Region. Check out the great classes on offer in the current round of the program here.

The leadership group has been an excellent opportunity to link up with like minded businesses and providers to offer health and fitness services within the community. City Fit is focused on creating an open door, so we can continue to be involved in offering community based programs in the region.

Here at Wide Bay Sports Academy, we believe in the holistic development of regional youth through sporting excellence. The Do Your Thing initiative fits right into our belief of lifelong involvement in physical activity, health and wellbeing.
Our educational programs, fitness plans and athlete support help in giving regional youth the framework for continued success towards their chosen sport but more importantly a lifetime of active involvement in physical activity, healthy eating and strong support networks.

Do Your Thing has finished this stage
Community and stakeholder engagement undertaken to develop a place-based approach to support health and wellbeing in Bundaberg Region.

Do Your Thing has finished this stage
Behavioural science strategy completed. (You can read the strategy here).
74 stakeholders and 33 organisations across Bundaberg informed the strategy.
April 2022 - Official Do Your Thing Launch
Do Your Thing has finished this stage
Do Your Thing is designed to bring stakeholders together and build awareness of, and engagement with, available programs and services. Do Your Thing is ultimately a platform for collaboration, a platform for capacity building, a platform for communication, and most of all – a platform for change.
Local Leadership Group formation
Do Your Thing has finished this stage
Representing more than 40 local community members and 28 organisations across the region, the LLG support the on-ground delivery of Do Your Thing, collaborate for improved outcomes, and promote positive achievements in the region.
Capacity building for local leaders, service providers and organisations
Do Your Thing has finished this stage
Workshops were delivered across Phase Twoto remove barriers and build capacity for organisations involved in the delivery of programs, services, infrastructure, planning, and policy for the Bundaberg region related to health and wellbeing.
December 2022 – Do Your Thing Phase Two End
Do Your Thing has finished this stage
Programs involved in Do Your Thing engaged almost 20,000 community members through 500 events and activities involving 58 organisations or projects.
April 2024 – Do Your Thing Phase Three Commences
Do Your Thing is currently at this stage
Following focused consultations four key health and wellbeing themes were selected to guide upcoming priorities and activities.
These are -
Move: Incorporating regular physical activity into daily routines and lifestyles
Eat Wisely: Supporting a balanced approach to nutrition and healthy eating choices
Mental Well-being: Supporting mental well-being and building resiliency
Connection: Building connection, meaningful relationships and a sense of belonging
