New dog parks 2022/2023

Bundaberg Regional Council is proud to host ‘A Dog’s Day Out’ this August:

• 8am – 11am Saturday 10 August, 2024

‘A Dog’s Day Out’ is on a mission to foster responsible pet ownership within our region. It will balance fun, education, competitions and provide a fun morning for our furry friends and their owners.

Council would like to have a variety of market stalls at the event with a keen focus on our dogs –  pet products, dog obedience education, discounted microchipping, rescue adoption and much more!

All Stallholders will need to have Public Liability Insurance, with $20 million cover. 

We would love to have your business involved in our market. If you’re interested, please fill out the form by Friday 31 May 2024 so we can secure your spot! Please have your Public Liability Insurance Certificate of Currency in digital form to upload on the form.

Council is collecting your personal information (e.g. name, email address, phone number etc.) which will be used for the purposes of compiling a list of market stalls at the Dog's Day Out. • Jack Strathdee Memorial Park, Neill Street, Burnett Heads

‘A Dog’s Day Out’ is on a mission to foster responsible pet ownership within our region. It will balance fun, education, competitions and provide a fun morning for our furry friends and their owners around Burnett Heads!

The event also coincides with the official opening ceremony of Council’s new Burnett Heads sensory dog off leash park.

The new park comes fully equipped with designated small and all dog areas, agility equipment, a dog bubbler, shade and seating areas for our dog owners. The park also includes a larger all dog area as well as open grassed areas which help for line of sight. If you’re unfamiliar with sensory parks, they’re quite unique and we’re excited to have one in our region. It’s got rocks, mulch, lots of trees (and smells) for your dog to explore.

Following extensive community consultation, up to 5 sites have been identified for dog parks around the region, subject to budget and availability of materials etc.

The proposed Moore Park Beach site is at Lions Park, with features including: 

• Plenty of shade, water, grass cover and a very flat site
• Existing shelter & seating (outside of dog park perimeter)
• Existing car parking
• Vegetation buffer and roadway between proposed location and houses

Following extensive community consultation, up to 5 sites have been identified for dog parks around the region, subject to budget and availability of materials etc. 

Most towns only have one viable location. Childers has 3 possible dog park sites. Community feedback is needed, as all sites have advantages and disadvantages.

Three sites have been identified in the Childers area:

1. Apple Tree Creek Community Park  
2. Land adjacent to Childers Tennis Complex in North Street
3. Heritage Park (Pioneer Ave)

If you live in Childers or Apple Tree Creek, we would appreciate your views on which sites you would regularly use. The survey will close on Monday 13th June, 2022

The proposed Burnett Heads site is at Jack Strathdee Memorial Park, with features including: 

• Integrates with existing car parking, playground and toilets
• Plenty of shade, water and some grass cover
• Existing shelter & seating (outside of dog park perimeter)
• Established trees providing natural shade for dogs
• Esplanade footpath adjacent to park used by dog owners

 If this is your local park, we would appreciate your feedback, by Monday 13th June, 2022.

Following extensive community consultation, up to 5 sites have been identified for dog parks around the region, subject to budget and availability of materials etc.

The proposed Gin Gin site is at Dear Street Park, with features including: 

• Existing car parking adjacent to the dog park
• Good shade and grass cover
• Existing shelter & seating (outside of dog park)
• Additional benches to be provided at dog park

If this is your local park, we would appreciate your feedback, by Monday 13th June, 2022

Following extensive community consultation, up to 5 sites have been identified for dog parks around the region, subject to budget and availability of materials etc.

The proposed Avoca/Millbank site is at Avoca Place Park, with features including: 

• Existing sealed car parking
• On a main road so highly visible
• Established trees providing extensive natural shade
• People walk dogs on opposite footpath on Avoca Street
