Adoption of planning scheme amendment No.17 (Tailored Amendment - Bundaberg Health and Enterprise Precinct)

At its Meeting held 28 July 2026, Council adopted an amendment to the Bundaberg Regional Council Planning Scheme to incorporate the Bundaberg Health and Enterprise Precinct local plan to facilitate the creation of a high quality and vibrant health, knowledge and enterprise precinct surrounding the new Bundaberg Hospital being constructed by the Queensland Government at Thabeban, supported by interconnected local services, community facilities and open space. The amendment includes associated zoning changes (Schedule 2 - Mapping) and the inclusion of tables of assessment (Part 5 - Tables of Assessment) to better facilitate consistent uses within sub-precincts of the Bundaberg Health and Enterprise Precinct local plan.

The amendment will commence as Version 6.6 of the Planning Scheme on 31 July 2026.

Where is the Bundaberg Health and Enterprise Precinct?

The amendment applies to the area surrounding the new Bundaberg Hospital site at Thabeban (see below figure).

This area is referred to as the Bundaberg Health and Enterprise Precinct.

    Have your say on the proposed amendment to the Bundaberg Regional Council Planning Scheme

    Council has prepared Planning Scheme Amendment No. 17 (Tailored Amendment - Bundaberg Health and Enterprise Precinct) which seeks to incorporate local planning for the area surrounding the new Bundaberg Hospital which is currently being constructed by the Queensland Government at Thabeban. 

    Council is seeking your feedback and comments on the proposed amendment by close of business (4.45pm) on Friday, 19 December 2025.
