Project update - April 2024

Two new shelters and an accessible barbecue have been installed in the park.

The team are currently developing two fitness areas with new fitness equipment set to be installed by June 2024.

Council are continuing to prepare the detailed road and revised parking design and related pathway into the park.

The current Concept Plan shown below, can be viewed in the 'Documents' section on this website.

Project update - September 2023

Power and water will be disconnected to the barbecue shelter on 4 and 5 October 2023.

The existing shelter, barbecue and shower facilities will then be removed and replaced with an upgraded shelter with a new barbecue and park furniture.

The shower will be replaced and located closer to the toilet facility, it is currently on order so its installation may be slightly delayed. A second shower will be installed later in the project near the beach access track.

The toilet facilities will remain open during the park upgrades.

In addition to these works the Parks team are finalising the detailed road and revised parking design and related pathway into the park, co-ordinating the purchase of exercise equipment and finalising the detailed design of other park features.

Project overview

Good news for Woodgate residents and visitors – Banksia Park has been identified for upgrade and development, as part of the Bundaberg Regional Council Parks and Open Space Strategy 2018 – 2025.

Council is inviting the community to provide feedback so we can develop a Concept Plan for the park.

We’d like you to tell us what you’d like to see in the park - for example, a new playground, seating, shelter, barbecue, improved pathways, tree planting, refurbishment of the existing toilet block, shade sails.

You’ll be invited to a ‘conversation day’ to speak to Council staff and our consultant about how you use the park and what facilities would be of benefit to you, your family and the community. A survey will also be available as well as a project newsletter.

Once the concept plan has been developed Council will share this with the community for further feedback.

UPDATE: The Conceptual Design has been released for public comment. View the plans here and fill out the survey, below, by 6th May, 2022.
