Bundaberg Regional Council is developing a new Arts & Culture Strategy (2026–2031) to guide arts and culture activities across the region over the next five years. This strategy will help us plan, invest in and support arts and culture in ways that reflect community priorities, celebrate local heritage and create opportunities for everyone.
Arts and culture are an important part of life in Bundaberg. They contribute to community wellbeing, creativity, inclusion and economic growth. The new strategy will:
Highlight achievements from previous projects (2019–2023)
Identify gaps and emerging needs in the arts and culture sector
Provide clear goals, actions, and priorities for the next five years
How We Are Consulting
We want to hear from staff, community groups and the wider public. Consultation is happening in three phases:
Internal Consultation (Oct 2025) Staff workshops and discussions to identify priorities and create a draft “scaffold” of goals.
External Consultation (Dec 2025) Consultation with community and cultural organisations to test the scaffold, identify gaps and refine priorities.
Community Consultation (Jan 2025) Online survey and feedback forms open to all community members, artists and groups.
Your input will help ensure the strategy reflects real needs, opportunities and aspirations across Bundaberg.
Key Principles
The strategy will be guided by principles to ensure it is consistent, inclusive and aligned with community values. These principles will inform all goals and actions and guide how Council and the community work together to support arts and culture.
