We will be upgrading Surf Riders Point carpark on Schuhkraft Drive located next to Schuhkraft Park and at the southern end of Nielson Park in Bargara, as part of Bundaberg Regional Council’s Parks Capital Renewal Program 2021-2022.

This project will address issues relating to erosion and pedestrian safety caused by ad hoc vehicular parking in the area.

The project includes:

32 long term vehicle parks, including one fully accessible carpark, consisting of:

  • 21 parks in a formal car park setting
  • 11 parks in an overflow area on the grass

9 short term vehicle parks

Following consultation with long-time users of Surf Riders Point Car Park, a number of changes have been made to the original design:

  • the total number of vehicular parks has been increased to 41
  • there are more car parks overlooking the surf
  • there is a grass overflow parking area if the bitumen car park is full

This new design will make maximum use of the site, taking into account turning circles and manoeuvring space required, as well as the other considerations listed in the fact sheet.

If you use this car park, we would appreciate your feedback, by Friday 10th June, 2022. You can fill out the survey below.

Construction date is yet to be advised.

Access to the carpark via the main entry will be closed to the public during the construction of the civil works. Council apologises for any inconvenience.
